A BRIEF HISTORY IN LETTERHEADS:
Letterheads tracing the evolution of the School of Architecture, including new Programs and eventual expansion into the College of Architecture and Design. Personal Business Cards parallel the evolution, up to Professor Emeritus status.
My second year, I was appointed Chairman of a new Dean Search Committee by Faculty vote. The Committee included veteran Associate Professors, an Assistant Professor, representatives from other Colleges of the University, an Alumnus, and a Professional
I served on the Board of the SAH; my colleagues were a distinctive group, While not a bonafide PhD in Art History, I did present papers vetted at Annual Meetings, and was an advocate for retaining History both in curricula, and as a component of the NAAB (National Architectural Accreditation Board) Architecture Schools' accreditation process.
'RDA' was created to promote Public Awareness of Architecture/Design and Social/Environmental issues. Faculty of Rice University, University of Houston, and invited citizens formed the Board; I was President 1978-1979. The medallion celebrated 25 years. Refer to CITE in "Published Writings 6".
I had been with a 3-person firm, invited by a teaching colleague, but the dynamics compelled me to find a more compatible 2-person arrangement.
When I moved to New York, I joined the firm of a former Rice Graduate, Eric R. Kuhne. We took on a major jump in scale, with the Darling Park complex by Land Lease Corporation in Sydney, Australia. A heart attack in 1997 compelled my cutting back from practice and travel.
And so it goes: my interrelated interests and continuing them as they reinforce one another, resulted in a "reinvention".
